The Project

The project provides a YouTube-like experience for the employee news portal. As both the experience designer and software engineer, my role was to both design and build the solution.

Requirements

The original requirement was to provide a way to share videos for Allstate's internal news portal. Additional requirements included:
1. An embeddable video player.
2. A stand-alone video player. 
3. Ability to share videos internally.
4. Allow fast-forward, rewind, pause, volume control, and full-screen mode.
5. A library that includes categories and suggested videos.
6. Find a solution that does not require a database or back-end support.

Challenges

The main challenge was finding a way to store the video data without a database solution. Whatever solution we used had to also be easy to edit and maintain.

The Results

My solution saved the company over a million dollars by replacing the commercial solution in consideration at the time.

With videos available on demand, engagement rose by over 50%.

This solution shared the same code base as my E-card system.
